Tis the Season to Laugh at the Denair Gaslight Theater

Tis the season to laugh at the Denair Gaslight Theater. The Gaslight will bring the 1980’s holiday classic A Christmas Story to the stage. Based on humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s the production follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself, at Higbee’s Department Store. The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; Flick’s experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; the major award lamp shaped like a woman’s leg in a net stocking; and Ralphie’s fantasy scenarios and more.

Resident Director Joshua Morriston and a host of local actors, both youth and adult, promise A Christmas Story is bound to entertain audiences young and old. Doors open at 6:15 pm so you can enjoy Christmas cookies, hot chocolate, and warm cider.

Opening night is Friday December 8, 2017, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available online at www.showtix4u.com and at the door. General admission is $10, seniors and students are $8. For questions, please call (209) 664-9514
